No crying this afternoon…

Friday, July 31st, 2009

We decided that we needed to watch the 4 hour long Gettysburg movie this afternoon since we will not have time tomorrow - so no “Notebook” and thus no crying this afternoon.

Although Steve and his son have been managing to catch a lot of flies. They say like father like son - and I now see why!

I am at our hotel now and going to be heading down to the Riverfront with a small group of people. Steve took about half the group to PNC park to watch the Pirates lose! I guess they are not very good.

We manage to be in 5 states today! We started in Illinois and then went on to Ohio

Then on to Indiana and then to West Virginia

And finally to Pennsylvania

These signs really jump up on a person…but my quick draw camera skills came in handy as I manage to (last minute on most) capture three of the four!

We are off to the water…and came in just behind the rain. It is partly cloudy out now and 81 degrees.

I do want to thank Dee for checking my spelling for me on the blog here AND I’ve got to send a BIG I LOVE YOU to her for getting me my camera cord! THANKS DEE! We all love you, although I have not plans to change any wrong spelt words - but keep correcting me if you like.

I’ve got to get moving! Check back in with all of you tomorrow! ~ erin

Crying like a baby…

Friday, July 31st, 2009

I have dubbed today CHICK FLICK FRIDAY on the bus - which will be the case next Friday as well. Steve’s boys have no say over weather or not we watch the chick flicks!  Today we took in “The Family Stone”  and I cried! This afternoon we are going to be watching “The Notebook” so I am expecting even more tears! My camera cord should be arriving at the hotel any moment now! Should have pics soon.

Howdy!

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

We just passed Kickapoo (which sounds like something you would do to cow pies) and are about 20 minutes away from our hotel. We had a great lunch at the Ox Yolk Inn, Amana, IA when we stopped at the Amana colonies. I had a special request to pick up some horseradish from there - so I now have 2 jars in tow in case anyone wants horseradish.

We plan to make a stop at the Peoria Riverfront area tonight before turning in for the day.

Silly me - I forgot my camera cord at work…so Dee was kind enough to overnight it to me! I should recieve it tomorrow evening and will be able to post some photos then. Really there is nothing photographic that we’ve done today - just ride.

We did manage to squeeze in 2 movies on our voyage “Walk the Line” and tear-fest “We Are Marshall” (I cried like a baby at the second one). Steve’s sons have gotten to choose the movies so far…but I think a chick flick will be in order for tomorrow! Afterall we have several chicks on the bus -I think we out number the boys! Will check back in again soon!

On the Road Again….

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Just can’t wait to get on the road again! We are moments away from taking off for 11 days! No bus trouble…no missed alarm clocks…everything in order and ready to rock and roll! Be sure to check back regularly for photos of our adventures and more! Talk to you again from another state! ~ erin

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

I  know I am forgetting something and I haven’t even started packing yet! I am just getting ready to leave work for the evening to go home and forget to pack somthing. I need to make more lists…then I would know exactly what I forgot when I finally find the list. Keep up with  me here all 11 days! Talk to you all tomorrow from the road. ~ erin

Broke Down

car

So…vacation starts tomorrow (really I can say it is work - but it is an 11 day vacation) and sure as my hair is red - my car starts smoking on my way to work this morning! I thought I cracked the radiator…but it just cracked a radiator hose - THANK GOD! I couldn’t afford a radiator!   I am leaving on an 11 day vacation!  The smoke was just the antifreeze burning on the engine.  I am praying the rest of my day goes better than it started! ~ erin

National Milk Chocolate Day Today

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

chocolate

Today is National Milk Chocolate Day…and I keep a good stock of Milk Chocolate on hand at all times. I like my chocolate crisp, cold and crunchy! I had a dozen bars in the freezer…but I ate one yesterday. Now I am down to 11 - enough for one each day of our trip - although they can’t be frozen on the road. Will have to leave them here and eat them when I get back.

Packing…NOT even started!

packing1

Ahhh! We leave the day after tomorrow and I haven’t even started. The stuff in these bags is left over from the last trips I took to Chicago and the Twin Cities! I don’t even know where to start…11 days is a lot of days to pack for!

packing2

I do want to let all know that are going along - I am going to wear a fancy dress to the Broadway show. You don’t have to bring anything fancy…BUT it is Broadway- why wouldn’t you go all out?!?! Just wanted to give you that heads up - thanks for reminding me Sally! ~ erin

Rainbow

rainbow1

I haven’t seen a rainbow in such a long time and now I’ve seen two this month and got pictures of both! It was too big to get it all in one picture - in fact I would have to take 3 to fit it all - plus there were 2 rainbows! You can see just a light rainbow above the bright one in the right side corner of the photo. I was in Tyndall last night when I took these! ~ erin
