Worked the calves yesterday and I was in charge of cutting off ear tags! Just so happened that I  cut off a little bit of my finger too! See the pictures below:

Some of the neighbors came over to help! See that ear tag? That is what I was in charge of cutting off!

The blood on my coveralls is not from castrating calves…NO that is MY blood!

Got all bandaged up WITH extra padding so I could go back to my job…and not cut any other fingers off!

And here would be the grusome wound! At least it is one of the better ones I’ve had in some time!!!

Now if I was to go out and buy a machine…such as a combine - the only requirement I have is that there be enough room to sleep in the thing! And let me tell you  - the White combines have by far the most sleeping room of any combine out there!

Granted they are not on the market anymore - BUT even though John Deere has a built in padded seat (so that I don’t have to bring my own step stool from the bathroom to sit on) - their floor space is so small that I have ZERO room to curl up on the floor and sleep!

Sure the line of site is better and the heater works in the John Deere combine…BUT at 2am when I am trying to catch a few winks between unloading - there is absolutly no room! So last night after several failed attempts at comfort - I gave up…went home and slept in bed! I kind of felt bad too - since the crew didn’t stop until 10am this morning - but hey…I blame John Deere!!
